Hero's JourneyThe Hero's Journey is a criteria made by Joseph Campbell that shows what all heroes must go through, regardless of genre. Unfortunately, the Greek mythology does not have all the aspects to this criteria, although most of them exist. The following are what meets the criteria of the Hero's Journey.
The Reward |
Prometheus lights a branch on fire with the flames of the sun and brings it back to mankind. Mankind is now able to live in peace and harmony. (Until Pandora's Box anyways).
The Resurrection:Prometheus must give up his years of his life in order to restore peace to humankind. After the regifting of fire to mankind, Zeus is enraged and chains him to a rock and has an Eagle peck out his liver for eternity. Prometheus endures through the pain, after all, it was worth the sacrifice. He had prevented mass genocide of the human race.
Return with ElixirPrometheus is freed from his chains by the mighty hero named Hercules. He returns back to his brethren with anger on Zeus that clouds his once fair judgement. Although he has saved mankind, his whole thinking has changed about the Gods and how things are run on Olympus.
